The abdominal transplant surgery fellowship at Tampa General Medical Group (TGMG) is a two-year, ASTS-accredited program offering comprehensive training in transplantation of the liver, kidneys and pancreas.

TGMG is associated with Tampa General Hospital, the fourth busiest transplant center in the country, which provides our fellows with excellent experience in all surgical and medical aspects of organ transplantation.

The fellow will also learn laparoscopic living donor nephrectomy and cadaveric multi-organ procurement surgery. We also have a busy practice in hepato-biliary surgery, vascular access and general surgery.

The fellow will be involved in the evaluation of transplant candidates, management of patients with acute and chronic liver and kidney disease and care of the organ transplant patient, including management of immunosuppression. The clinical activity of the fellowship is undertaken at Tampa General Hospital, a beautiful 1,018-bed hospital in downtown Tampa.

We accept one fellow per year, and have no more than two fellows at any one time. Candidates must have satisfactorily completed a residency that satisfies the educational requirements for certification by the American Board of Surgery and must be board eligible or certified. We participate in the National Resident Match Program.
