Colorectal & GI Cancer Center | Tampa General Hospital

At Tampa General Hospital, we provide comprehensive treatment for all types of cancers that affect the digestive system, or the gastrointestinal tract, and have a colorectal oncology program that specializes in treating colon and rectum cancer.

Leader in Colorectal Cancer Care

Our board-certified surgeons have been at the forefront of colorectal cancer treatments and screening for nearly two decades. As innovative pioneers, we remove more rectal tumors through transanal minimally invasive surgery (TAMIS) than any other hospital in West Central Florida. These procedures provide patients with an early return to a productive life. As a result, Tampa General offers patients faster recovery times and significantly better outcomes than national averages.

Multidisciplinary Team

Each patient’s gastrointestinal cancer treatment will depend on a variety of factors, including the type and stage of cancer, and we take a multidisciplinary approach to providing world-class, personalized care. Each of our patients is continually evaluated by a team of physicians, surgeons, radiation and medical oncologists, and other cancer specialists that meets in person bi-weekly to determine the best course of treatment.

Nationally Recognized Cancer Care

Tampa General Hospital has earned “high performing” designation for cancer care by U.S. News & World Report for 2023-24, meaning we are ranked among the top 10% of U.S. hospitals.
